Do you like the looks of the console we gave away on Game Informer’s website back in November 2009? Would you like to recreate the same console for yourself? This article will tell you what we used and how we created this masterpiece. Behold the Ultimate Xbox 360.

Parts Used:

Whisper Fan – Blue for Xbox 360

Of course you will need to supply the Xbox 360 console. These can be had for cheap at Gamestop or Ebay. Don’t worry about the condition of the case as you will be changing it out shortly. You will want to opt for a console with an HDMI port because the case used in this article requires it.

HDD Mod: One of the modifications we did to this console other than the parts listed above was to create a cutout window on the Black HDD case and put some blue leds inside of it. You can use the LED Board by SICKmods and add you own blue or other color LEDs if you wish to make it a different color. We also used the chrome trim from the original HDD to give it that finished look we were after. To cutout the hold at the top of the case you could use a drill to make a pilot hole and a jigsaw to cut the actual hole or if you are good with a dremel tool that can be used as well. All in all this console took about 4 hours to make from start to finish and as you can see the results are fantastic. You could also use the XCM Xbox 360 Black Light HDMI Case – Chameleon case if you would like multi colored LEDs to choose from.

Faceplate Mod: The faceplate was very easy to make and consisted of using the black faceplate the console case came with along with the chrome faceplate we linked to above. We used the chrome dvd bezel and eject button on the console itself and then we took the memory slot covers off the chrome kit and replaced the black ones on the black kit. All in all this part of the project will take less than 5 minutes to complete, and is really easy to figure out on your own.

Blue Ring of Light / ROL Mod: This part is really easy to install. You just remove 3 screws using the tool included with the HDD case and it unplugs like a USB thumbdrive. Then just plug in the new one and replace the screws and viola this part is done.

Core Cooler Mod: The core cooler installs very easily and only takes about 5 minutes to install but shouldn’t be done until the case is ready to be reassembled. In our project we opted to first replace the case fan in the back, then install the dvd cover. After which we installed the clear airtube with blue LEDs thats included with the case (the case also plugs into this part for power) and then lastly we installed the Core Cooler. The core cooler requires you to daisy chain the air tube and dvd drives power together. First you remove the power cord from the back of the DVD drive and then plug the air tube’s power board into the back of the dvd drive, then plug the core cooler into the air tubes power board and finish it off by plugging in the dvd drives power supply cord back into the core coolers power board. It sounds more complicated than it is, it all goes together in just a couple of minutes.

And there you have it, the Ultimate Xbox 360. Easy to do, but it will take some time to get everything perfect. The part that takes the longest is the window in the harddrive, but once that part is done the rest goes together very quickly. We hope you enjoyed this tutorial/article and hope to see pics of your finished console very soon. Just email us on our main website and we will add them to our blog to showcase them to the world!
