This post is to inform our readers of the different styles of controller cases we carry. This is one of the easiest Xbox 360 Mods to perform and yeilds great results with minimal work.

The cases we carry from XCM include built in lights, but you do need to solder 3 wires to get the lights to work. This process takes about 5 minutes and is very easy to do. The soldering points are pretty large and even a novice solderer can complete this task fairly easily without any trouble.

The XCM line of cases include a button on the top of the controller case next to the sync button that allows you to turn them on and off easily. The power consumed when the lights are on is very minimal as the lights are LED based and should last the life of the controller. We’ve yet to have anyone report of a burnt out LED and we’ve sold thousands of these over the last couple years.

There are tons of colors and style to choose from, you are sure to find one that suits your style and tastes. The following list contains links to the controller shells being discussed and we will post information about them as we see fit. As mario would say “Here we go!”

XCM Wireless Controller Case – Pink Lady for Xbox 360 - This Xbox 360 controller case mod is Pink with multi colored LEDs built in. Its great for that gamer girl in your life, or if you are a guy who just likes the color pink.

XCM Wireless Controller Case – Blue Blood (Glossy) for Xbox 360 - This Xbox 360 controller case mod is all blue with multi colored LEDs built in. The case is glossy and will not show fingerprints.

XCM Wireless Controller Case – Piano White (Glossy) for Xbox 360 - This Xbox 360 controller case mod is just like the case thats included on most standard OEM controllers. It has a glossy finish and of course has the multi colored LEDs built in.

XCM Wireless Controller Case – Piano Black (Glossy) for Xbox 360 - This Xbox 360 controller case mod is glossy black and has multi colored LEDs built in.

XCM Wireless Controller Case – Clear **New D-Pad** for Xbox 360 - This Xbox 360 controller case mod is crystal clear and has multi colored LEDs built in. It looks great as you can see the inside of your controller through its clear case.

XCM Wireless Controller Case – Sexy Red for Xbox 360 - This Xbox 360 controller case mod is a combination of red and white. The top shell is red while the bottom is white. Its a great looking combo thats very popular.

XCM Wireless Controller Case – Apple Green for Xbox 360 *New D-Pad* - This Xbox 360 controller case mod is all solid green with multi colored LEDs built in.

The face buttons are multi colored but the guide button, triggers and bumpers are available in Blue, Green, Red and Yellow. The colors are all matched based on the color you choose to purchase. This is the most popular controller case we carry to date.

XCM Wireless Controller Case – Black **New D-Pad** for Xbox 360 - This Xbox 360 controller case mod is unique and all black. It has a special rubberized coating which makes it very user friendly as it will not slip out of your hands during heated gameplay. The LEDs are not multi colored, they are all a smoke color but look very nice. This is one of the most popular cases we carry and everyone we’ve talked to loves the rubberized casing.

XCM Wireless Controller Case – Crystal Green for Xbox 360 - This Xbox 360 controller case mod is crystal green. You can see through it which makes it a very desirable case and has the built in multi colored LEDs.

XCM Wireless Controller Case – Smoke **New D-Pad** for Xbox 360  - This Xbox 360 controller case mod is translucent black. It also features the multi colored LEDs and is very slick to look at. It hides the insides of the controller when the controller is off and when the lights are on its a treat for the eyes, revealing its inner beauty.

XCM Wireless Controller Case – White **New D-Pad** for Xbox 360 - This Xbox 360 controller case mod is all white with blue guide button, triggers and bumpers. It also features the multi colored LEDs and is very popular with folks who like the white look of the original OEM controllers but want to add alittle extra color to them.

All our XCM controller cases include the newly redesigned D-Pad which allows for greater accuracy and more precise movement during gameplay. As you can see we have a bunch of great controller cases to choose from and these are sure to impress your family and friends. You do need a stock OEM wireless controller to use these mods as the guts must be transferred to the new case.

Finally the Blue Ring of Light Xbox 360 Mods are on their way here. They should be in tomorrow and we will be filling all backorders as quickly as possible. We are very sorry for the delay and hopefully we can keep them instock for some time to come. We just sold so many that our supplier could not keep up with demand. Next year we will have a backup supplier in place so we don’t run out. Once again we are sorry for the hassle and wait, but we are working to make sure it does not happen again.

Modded Xbox 360 from Game Informer's Ultimate Giveaway Contest

Do you like the looks of the console we gave away on Game Informer’s website back in November 2009? Would you like to recreate the same console for yourself? This article will tell you what we used and how we created this masterpiece. Behold the Ultimate Xbox 360.

Parts Used:

Of course you will need to supply the Xbox 360 console. These can be had for cheap at Gamestop or Ebay. Don’t worry about the condition of the case as you will be changing it out shortly. You will want to opt for a console with an HDMI port because the case used in this article requires it.

HDD Mod: One of the modifications we did to this console other than the parts listed above was to create a cutout window on the Black HDD case and put some blue leds inside of it. You can use the LED Board by SICKmods and add you own blue or other color LEDs if you wish to make it a different color. We also used the chrome trim from the original HDD to give it that finished look we were after. To cutout the hold at the top of the case you could use a drill to make a pilot hole and a jigsaw to cut the actual hole or if you are good with a dremel tool that can be used as well. All in all this console took about 4 hours to make from start to finish and as you can see the results are fantastic. You could also use the XCM Xbox 360 Black Light HDMI Case – Chameleon case if you would like multi colored LEDs to choose from.

Faceplate Mod: The faceplate was very easy to make and consisted of using the black faceplate the console case came with along with the chrome faceplate we linked to above. We used the chrome dvd bezel and eject button on the console itself and then we took the memory slot covers off the chrome kit and replaced the black ones on the black kit. All in all this part of the project will take less than 5 minutes to complete, and is really easy to figure out on your own.

Blue Ring of Light / ROL Mod: This part is really easy to install. You just remove 3 screws using the tool included with the HDD case and it unplugs like a USB thumbdrive. Then just plug in the new one and replace the screws and viola this part is done.

Core Cooler Mod: The core cooler installs very easily and only takes about 5 minutes to install but shouldn’t be done until the case is ready to be reassembled. In our project we opted to first replace the case fan in the back, then install the dvd cover. After which we installed the clear airtube with blue LEDs thats included with the case (the case also plugs into this part for power) and then lastly we installed the Core Cooler. The core cooler requires you to daisy chain the air tube and dvd drives power together. First you remove the power cord from the back of the DVD drive and then plug the air tube’s power board into the back of the dvd drive, then plug the core cooler into the air tubes power board and finish it off by plugging in the dvd drives power supply cord back into the core coolers power board. It sounds more complicated than it is, it all goes together in just a couple of minutes.

And there you have it, the Ultimate Xbox 360. Easy to do, but it will take some time to get everything perfect. The part that takes the longest is the window in the harddrive, but once that part is done the rest goes together very quickly. We hope you enjoyed this tutorial/article and hope to see pics of your finished console very soon. Just email us on our main website and we will add them to our blog to showcase them to the world!

It has been brought to our attention that some people have questions about the XFPS adapters from XCM, so we have created this article to clear up some of the confusion.

1. Talking In-Game – In order to talk in game while using any of the XFPS adapters you will need a wireless headset. This goes for both the Xbox 360 and the Playstation 3 / PS3. The microphone attached to the controller will not work for the Xbox 360, so please make a note of this before purchasing the adapter.

2. Wired Controller Required (XFPS 3.0 Sniper Plus & XFPS Speed) – This pertains to the Xbox 360 line of adapters. But in order to use the adapter you will need a dedicated wired controller. Not a wireless controller with plug & charge kit, this will not work as the controller still connects to the console wirelessly but uses the USB port for charging the unit only. Any of the dedicated wired controllers will work, wether they are new or old or 3rd party.

3. Which adapter do i use if i don’t want to connect a PC / Laptop to my console? You will need to use either the XFPS 3.0 Sniper Plus for the Xbox 360 or the XFPS Rateup for the Playstation 3 / PS3. These do NOT require a PC be present to function.

4. Which adapter do i use if i DO want my PC connected to my console? You will need to use one of the newer 4.0 models. Either the XFPS 4.0 Speed for Xbox 360 or the XFPS 4.0 Force for the Playstation 3 / PS3.

5. Which keyboard and mouse work best? The adapters are compatible with most keyboard and mice, just be sure to know that when using the device that does not connect to your PC that drivers cannot be loaded for the keyboard and mouse to work, so you must use devices that conform to the standards widely used on PCs to recognize a keyboard and mouse. PS/2 and USB Keyboards and Mice work just fine. Also high resolution mice seem to work better than lower resolution mice.

6. Can i use these adapters while playing online? As of right now yes you can, but that doesn’t mean it will always be allowed. Please use them online at your own risk and please do not cheat while playing online.

7. Does using the adapter void my warrantee? No it will not.
